Why have you downgraded your Macbook Pro’s to use SATA 1.0 (1.5 GBps transfer rate to and from the Hard Drive) for your HDs (and Optical Drives) from SATA 2.0 (3.0 GBps)?
What does this mean for audio professionals? That your audio will move to any HD slower. Half the speed of the old Macbooks and Macbook Pros.
As of today, Apple has released a firmware update for all New Macbook Pro’s (June 09) that allows Data Transfers to top 1.5 GB per second. (EFI Firmware Update 1.7).
While all Macbook Pros now ship with SATA 1 Hard Drives, You can now put in a SATA 2 HD and get that speed bump from it. This won’t only speed up transfers, but OS operation and load times.
Anyone using Pro Tools w/ a new Macbook Pro should notice this significantly….
