EAW has announced a new addition to the KF Series, the KF740. The KF740 now joins the KF730 and KF760 amongst the ranks of EAW’s line array systems.
The KF740 is small enough to be considered a “Compact Line Array Module,” but don’t let the word compact mislead you.
The EAW KF740 is built for all applications, install or touring. They’re a mid point between EAW’s existing Line Array models, the KF730 and KF760… Lets take a look at the details
- Full Range, 3-Way Boxes
- 4 x 10″ LF Woofers, 2 x 8″ Horn Loaded MF, and 2 x 2.5 Inch HF Compression Drivers
- Power Handling: 1400W LF, 624W MF, 200W HF ( @ 8 )
- 90 Degree Horizontal x 12 Degree Vertical Beam Width
- 50 Hz – 20 kHz Operating Frequency Response
- Fully Compatible with KF730 or KF760 Systems
- NL8 Connectors
One of the more surprising parts of the K740 is that it’s only 40″ x 17.5″ x 13″. All that in such a relatively small box and weighing only 107 lbs!
Comparison: the KF730, 40, and 60
In comparison to the KF730, the KF740 has not only a smaller vertical Beamwidth (20 Deg vs 12 Deg), is also has a slightly smaller horizontal beamwidth, higher Output (by 6-10 dB) and extends to 50 Hz, rather than 80 Hz.
If you compare the KF740 against the KF760, the KF740 you get familiar results. Although the KF760 does out preform the KF740 in most aspects it’s not by much. AND the KF740 is nearly half the weight and only requires around 3/4 of the power! The KF760 is, however, a much more controlled box with a 80 x 3 Degree Beam Width…
