Due to the FCC’s ruling to use the 700 MHz radio spectrum as unliscensed and open frequencies, Wireless users have taken a hit (maybe literally in in ears).
Shure has decided to offer a trade-in value (up to $1000) for ALL wireless devices (IEM, Wireless Mic/Guitar Packs) that use 698 MHz – 806 MHz frequencies purchased before Feb 1st, 2007.
Yes, i said ALL.
Any brand, any value. From what I can tell, shure will estimate the value, and give you a rebate towards any of their newer systems.
Back in November, the FCC ruled that 700 MHz – 800MHz frequency spectrum would be opened up from just use of wireless makers, to anyone. Google, Microsoft, and others have products in the pipes for long range wireless routers in that spectrum.
These wireless routers in theory have automatic frequency switching to avoid interferance with other pre-existing devices… but how well do they work? We’ll See.
