Shure Updates a Classic: The Super 55

Shure Super 55Shure recently announced that it’s updated one of their classic and longest manufactured microphones, the Shure 55 SH Series II.

Now, get ready for the Shure Super 55.  An update to the classic, which seems to keep the classic look, while adding modern components and sound.

With a wider frequency response than a Shure SM58 OR Shure Beta 58A, one can count on high fidelity and an excellent tone to handle all types of vocals.

The Shure Super 55 is, like it’s predecessor, a dynamic mic.  Also, it keeps all elements of the Shure 55SH Series II except the switch (oh, thank goodness, no more “what happened to the mic?”).

The price tag is set at $300 (retails around $250).  Hopefully I’ll be able to find some audio samples of this mic, for your listening pleasure, ASAP.

The Shure Super 55′s predecessors have been in production since 1931, with the most present incarnation the Shure 55SH Series being nearly untouched since 1951.
