EV’s New Expandable Vertical Arrays

EV's EVA Expandable Vertical ArrayElectro Voice announced their latest addition to the EVI series this year at InfoComm, the EVA Series (Expandable Vertical Arrays).

This series is all based on the design of the X-Line, but packs that same punch in a condensed and more discreet package, perfect for installations.

This series consists of one box with multiple versions, the EVA-2082S.

Lets take a look at the EVA Series.

The Basics

The EVA-2082s Cabinet consists of 6 Elements… Two EVS2008 8 Inch LF Drivers, and 4 DH2005 1.25 Inch HF Drivers.  The difference between the 4 versions is the placement, hence, the coverage.

Coverage

There are four different versions of the EVA-2082s Cabinet… Lets take a look at ‘em.

The EVA-2082S/1220 has a coverage of 120 Degrees Horizontal, by 20 Degrees Vertical.  This box is the near-field, wide coverage box of the series.

The EVA-2082S/126 has a coverage of 120 Degrees Horizontal by 6 Degrees Vertical.  With this coverage, this is a great line array/top box with a long throw, yet wide coverage.

Then we look at the EVA-2082S/906, a 90 Degree by 6 Degree Box.  This box is designed for a long throw.

Last, but not leas,t is the EVA2082S/920, a nearfield cabinet with a 90 Degree by 20 Degree Coverage.

Combining Boxes

The EV EVA series is all about combining boxes in a line array configuration to get the coverage AND isolation that you need.  With the correct combination, you can smoothly cover a room that is anywhere from 40 to 200 Feet Deep.

To combine these boxes, there is a smooth and fixed coupling plate on each box.

The Innards

The EVA series uses an internal passive crossover and can handle frequencies from 22 Hz to 20 kHz.

Each one of these boxes cna handle 350 W Continuous, 700 W Program, and 1400 Watss Peak.  Also, they crank.  With a 135 Max SPL @ 1 Meter, a small Array of the EVA series can go quite a ways.
