Update: As of September 17th, there is still no Snow Leopard or Windows 7 official support.
Snow Leopard has been out for just about 3 Weeks with no update from DigiDesign…
For potential Windows 7 users, October 22nd is the release date for Windows 7. With the “Gold” copy having been out as a the final RC release candidate available for download for quite a while now, one can only hope that Pro Tools will be Windows 7 OK by the release date. Is it only a dream?

Digidesign has recently made an announcement on their Pro Tools software and compatibility with the upcoming releases of the new Microsoft and Apple operating systems…
There wasn’t a whole lot to say, but lets see what they did say.
The same statement was made about Microsoft Windows 7 as well as Apple OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard.
“Avid is working closely with *insert company here* to deliver compatible, high-quality versions of Pro Tools as soon as possible. Please check back periodically for udpates on Avid’s *insert OS here* support status.”
Now, I believe this may be Digidesign/Avid’s time to shine with getting new versions of their software out on time as to not break Pro Tools when upgrading your operating system. Historically Pro Tools and their parent company Avid have been very behind in releasing updates to make their software compatible with new versions of operating systems not only for minor updates, but major releases as well.
Developers (including Avid/Digidesign) have had copies of release candidates of both of these operating systems for quite some time, so hopefully this will work in the user’s advantage to being able to upgrade operating systems within weeks or less of the operating system’s release.
