
Marshall Electronics (MXL) has recently introduced a small army of new microphones, ranging from Tube Mics to Ribbon Mics, and everything in between.
MXL is historically a maker of large diaphragm microphones for all budgets, but as of late has began to reach out of this niche into USB microphones, and as you’re about to see, Tube and Ribbon Mics.
Lets take a look at MXL’s New Mics…
MXL R77 – Classic Ribbon Microphone
The MXL R77 is a Classic Style Ribbon Microphone that has a touted natural sound and stunning realism.
With a 1.8 micron aluminum ribbon, the R77 has a frequency response of 20 Hz to 18 kHz, a figure 8 polar pattern and handles high SPLs. Also, the R77 is internally wired with mogami cable and comes with a 25ft mogami xlr cable, wooden case and desktop stand.
The only of these mics for sale as of yet, the MXL R77 lists for $599 and goes generally for $399.99
The R44 is another Ribbon Microphone offering from MXL, following the same figure 8 pattern as well as a 1.8 micron ribbon element.
The R44 is tailored for Vocals and Instruments with an emphasis on broadcast and shares the R77′s handling of high SPL sources. The R44′s frequency response is 20 Hz – 17 kHz and comes with a shock mount and carrying case.
MXL V69XM – Vacuum Tube Condenser Microphone
The new V69XM from MXL is a Tube Condenser Microphone with a 32mm capsule that is 6 microns thick and is gold-sputtered.
With a frequency response of 20 Hz – 20 kHz and touts a 12AT7 dual triode vacuum tube that has a 1 year warranty (3 year on mic, 1 on tube). The V69XM is internally wired with mogami cable, and comes with a shockmount, power supply, 7-pin mogami cable, mogami xlr cable, and flight case.
MXL Gold 35 – Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone
MXL is bringing on the “bling” with the Gold 35. A Large Diaphragm Condenser with gold-plated metal finish that touts not only a little shine, but a little sound to go with it.
The Gold 35 Touts a 35mm gold diaphragm with subtle sonic details that provide a warm and open sound. Also, the gold 35 has a 20 – 20 kHz frequency response and a 136 dB max SPL and comes with a shock mount, leather case, and windscreen.
